Outlook Add-in will not open in new Outlook for Windows #4429
Comments
@cody-lettau We checked the logs, few of the calls we needed to investigate were missing can you please reshare another log with the following steps which will make sure we have all the required calls in the log- Can you please also check if you see any errors in console after you click on the add-in |
@mmanjaree-msft of course. Below you can find an image of the console logs and a link to the HAR file (pretty large). |
Please share the har the way you did before. The new HAR File cannot be accessed without a sign in |
@mmanjaree-msft give it a try now - I updated the share permissions. |
Thanks for sharing the logs. We are looking into the issue. Meanwhile, is your add-in having any event-based activation feature and is that working? |
Why is this auto closing when your team is looking into the issue? I am trying to get a user who can reproduce this to test the on-send activation still. |
So our "on-send" event activation is not being triggered either (note, we are not using smart alerts as of now). |
We are not able to repro the issue at our end. Can you please tell is the issue consistent? Also, can you please share a test account where the issue is reproable so that we can dig deep more on this. |
The issue is consistently reproducible for specific accounts. I can provide a test account. What email can I send that info to? |
We are looking into the issue from our end. Can you please validate the following:
|
Can we re-open this in the mean time? I'll work with my team to get answers to those questions. |
Outlook add-in will not open for some users in new Outlook for Windows UI
The Outlook add-in that works in all other environments, including Outlook for Windows (not the new UI) will not open for some users when using the new UI.
It also does not appear to matter whether the add-in is deployed via side-loading or as an admin managed deployment.
Your Environment
Expected behavior
The add-in opens and loads like normal in the new Windows UI.
Current behavior
The user will click to open our add-in via the Apps popup or a pinned action and the add-in does not open. It appears to do nothing at all.
See the video here. Note that the user is clicking the add-in and it's doing nothing at all (the user does show that some other add-in does open fine).
Steps to reproduce
I can provide our add-in's manifest if needed, but it is not a publicly available. It also does not happen for all users, so it's unknown if you would be able to reproduce the issue.
Context
This is related to the bug filed here. We have some very large customers who are starting to see this as their users upgrade to using the new UI and we currently need to tell them to revert to the old UI.
