Exact steps to cause this issue

1. Access a post with a lot of replies. E.g. https://community.nodebb.org/topic/17867/pre-alpha-activitypub-related-bug-reports?
2. Sort by upvotes or newest to oldest
3. BUG: The scroll bar (on the right) will still show the dates as if it's going oldest to newest
4. BUG Clicking on the scroll bar will break the current sort and restore it to default

What you expected

1. The scroll bar should stop showing dates if it is not on the default sort
2. The scroll bar should instead show the comment # to make things easy
