I encountered the same issue while trying to reproduce the result from hellokan.ipynb. Here are the results with exactly the same setting (I output the result right after the auto_symbolic function) :

I also cannot reproduce the results from the notebook. Main difference being the pruning (see figure before and after pruning). I had to increase the threshold to 0.05. After that everything matches.
