Convert regular thread into private discussion? #49

Wondering how hard it would be to turn a normal thread into a private discussion after it was already started?

We've got some posts that turn into debates (usually political). I was thinking it would be great to switch them to private after a certain point to keep it off the main forum but still allow the discussion to continue in private.

In this case, it would also be useful to people to be able to leave the discussion if they wanted as mentioned in #5 .

This is already possible, in fact it's how the moderation system (now) works on discuss.flarum.org; this screenshot is taken from this (random) discussion:

I'm not sure I follow how that works. Would I need to add every person manually after the fact?

What I had in mind is some sort of option like "Make Private Discussion" that would automatically add all thread participants to the private discussion. Otherwise, I'd have to manually find/add dozens of people among the 200+ posts in the thread.

Not sure how participants are shown when there are that many 😁
