Unable to use copilot

I am a student and have verified the student discount. Before today, I could use copilot, but starting from today, copilot can no longer be used, and when I visit https://github.com/settings/copilot and click start free trial, nothing happens.

Try deactivating the extension in vscode. If you already activated it, you shouldn't have to click free trial again. Maybe your school refused the authentication. Other than that I would just try to open a ticket with the GitHub Support for more information. Do you have a school license?

So basically either you already have it connected with your school IT account or you use your school ID for it, with it you can proof your a student in IT in need of CoPilot. That's how I did it. I just scanned my card and it was done. I would suggest you opening a support ticket, maybe its a technical issue. Maybe your ID doesn't qualify for GitHub Copilot.

If you find this helpful, you can accept my answer. If you have further issues, just ask. I also have GitHub Copilot connected to my school based account not with my private one. Maybe that's the issue

https://education.github.com/learner/learn shows my account Verified since May 2023. Please note that I was able to use copilot yesterday and didn't modify anything. I won't graduate until 2025.

Are you a IT student? Copilot has criteria so that you can use it for free. Here is a site with the troubshooting for the common issues users experience with GitHub Copilot: https://docs.github.com/en/copilot/troubleshooting-github-copilot/troubleshooting-common-issues-with-github-copilot.
Please note that I said deactivate the extension so you could reactivate it. That fixes the problem most of the time.

If you didn't modify anything then I would really advise you to open a support ticket for GitHub Support.
