Problem Statement

The timeline is unintuitive to grasp due to the nonlinear y-axis. Vertical distance is not proportional to time.

❔ Possible Solution

Maybe an additional or alternative circular visualisation would help.

This could be inspired by https://nautilus-omnibus.web.app/ (I'm not the author and don't know about any legal implications - perhaps they would be happy to see their idea spread). Here is a screenshot:

The obvious solution would be to render a linear vertical (y) axis on the timeline. However, either long tasks would cover the entire screen or short tasks would be unreadable. On the other hand, maybe that would also have the upside of incentivizing reasonable planning units (not too large blocks and not too much overhead).

➕ Additional context

No aware of any related issues or discussions. The app linked above has further links for background.

Thank you very much for opening up this issue! I am currently a bit overwhelmed by the many requests that arrive each week, so please forgive me, if I fail to respond personally. I am still very likely to at least skim read your request and I'll probably try to fix all (real) bugs if possible and I will likely review every single PR being made (please, give me a heads up if you intent to do so) and I will try to work on popular requests (please upvote via thumbs up on the original issue) whenever possible, but trying to respond to every single issue over the last years has been kind of draining and I need to adjust my approach for this project to remain fun for me and to make any progress with actually coding new stuff. Thanks for your understanding!

Thanks for this interesting suggestion! I kind of like it, but since the implications of such a change seem huge in scope and complicated I probably don't like it enough to work on it :)

Leaving this open for discussion, since I am possibly overlooking some potential.
